Mike McLeod,
District 1 


Mr. McLeod was born to a family of early settlers to the southwest corner of Beauregard Parish. As a young boy he grew up on the family farm in Singer, Louisiana, learning how to live off the land. Upon graduation from Singer High School in 1960, he established his Timber and Construction business. January 1962, he was drafted into the Army serving until January 1964. Once back home again, he continued his previous business, his brother Cletus McLeod had kept the operation in service.  
 
Mike grew to love cattle and soy bean crop farming. All his adult life he continued to farm and operate his timber and construction business. In 1970 Cletus and he established McLeod Construction and Farming Company which he still operates. He has two children, Roy and Patty.  
 
In December 1986, Gerald M. "Mike" McLeod was elected as a Beauregard Parish Police Juror to replace Mrs. Faith Poe who was filling the expired term of her deceased husband, John "Tut" Poe. Mr. McLeod has a wealth of knowledge in road and bridge construction and humanitarian issues facing the general public. His priority and passion has been his service to the parish and state. His fellow jurors elected him four times as their jury President. Police Jury Region Seven jurors elected him to serve on the Police Jury Association Highway Committee in 1989 and in 1994 elected him Chairman of the Committee, which he has continued to hold. He also serves on the Finance and Insurance Committees.  
 
In 2009 he was elected to the Police Jury Association as a member-at large. In 2009 he was elected to serve as the third Vice President of the Police Jury Association Executive Board in 2012-2013. Gerald "Mike" McLeod is the only Beauregard Parish police juror to ever have served on the indicative of his hard work and perseverance, as well as his genuine concern for the well being of the parish.
