Economic Development
Goal: Work to maintain and expand industrial base, seek new business for area and support existing business

1. Support and report task force information
2. Coordinate community economic development project in conjunction with overall parish goals
3. Maintain positive and productive communications with retail merchants
4. Address the feasibility of community supported professional economic developer
5. Other objectives deemed proper for this committee
Workforce Education
Goal: Enhance relationship with educational community
Education - Dick Myers, Chairman
Members: Faith Thomas, Jim Merritt, John Marcello, Mike Kay(Lamar Salter), Kari Ifland(BPSB), Loretha McClain(BPSB), Superintendent Rita Mann, Ron Hebert(BPSB) and Shawn Wilson(UIU).
1. Expand Partners in Education program
2. Invite student leaders to attend chamber board meetings
3. Scholarship opportunity for area high school seniors
4. Teacher incentives
5. Other objectives deemed proper for this committee
Governmental & Civic Affairs
Goal: To communicate member concerns to officials and offer assistance for issues deemed beneficial to Chamber and improve civic pride
Governmental Affairs- DeeDee Phelps and Jim Merritt, Co Chairpersons.
Members: Leon Lagneaux, Dick Myers, Webb Stark, Faith Thomas, Paul Cador and John Hyde (HD Alliance).
1. Attend meetings of governmental bodies as needed
2. Plan trip(s) to Baton Rouge to promote area needs
3. Work with existing community efforts
4. Attend annual LA Transportation Road Show with presentation of concerns from the Beauregard Parish area
5. Report to Board LABI concerns and legislative updates
6. Work with tourist commission re: festivals/conventions
7. Other objectives deemed proper for this committee
Membership / Member Services
Goal: Increase membership and create positive climate among chamber members
Membership / Member Services - Charles Barfield, Chairman
Members: Sarah Courtney, Teresa Havens, Kade Bardin, Anna Wiggins, Patty Evans and DeeDee Phelps.
1. Identify businesses and individuals who are potential members
2. Conduct membership drive in first quarter of the year
3. Conduct monthly Good Morning DeRidder or business after hours events or other networking events
4. Establish seminar series
5. Establish chamber member benefits
6. Other objectives deemed proper for this committee
Military Affairs
Goal: Maintain positive relationship with Fort Polk
Military Affairs - Dorothy McGowen and Paul Cador, Co Chairpersons
Members - Larry Boyd, Teresa Havens, Jim Merritt, Charles Barfield, DeeDee Phelps, Anna Wiggins and List.
1. Attend functions at Fort Polk that need support from the Beauregard Parish area
2. Hold fish fry for Non Commissioned leaders at Fort Polk in an effort to advertise DeRidder
3. Conduct golf tournament to strengthen Ft. Polk and Beauregard Parish relations
4. Be a member of AUSA
5. Provide opportunities for Ft Polk personnel and spouses to be in the Beauregard Parish area
6. Provide an opportunity for CG to update this committee
7. Other objectives deemed proper for this committee
Retail
Goal: To increase the visibility of the businesses within Beauregard Parish and to promote growth within.
Retail - Anna Wiggins
Members: Patty Evans, Todd Suire and Kade Bardin.
1. Establish Chamber member to Chamber member discount program
2. Conduct seminars related to specific needs of retail/service merchants
3. To research interest in -Appreciation Days, promotional sales for parish businesses.
4. To offer small business display cabinet in chamber and 3 display windows to different retail outlets each month
Executive Advisory
Executive Advisory - Dick Myers, Chairman
All past presidents
The Executive Advisory Council may serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and/or any group or individual working within the Chamber of Commerce organization which could benefit from the experience of those who have served as President of the Chamber. The Executive Advisory Council may, upon its own initiative, present recommendations on policy and other matters to the Board of Directors for consideration.
